Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)
SAT I - The Scholastic Assess Test is required by many colleges and universities for admission. It focuses on verbal, mathematical, and writing skills. There are many opportunities to take this test during the school year. College encourage students to take the SAT I during the junior year in high school.
SAT II - The Subject Tests, subject-specific exams usually taken at the conclusion of a course, are often required by selective colleges as part of the admission process and/or for placement purposes. A student cannot take the SAT I and the SAT II on the same test date.

PSAT/NMSQT
Preliminary Scholastic Assessment Test (PSAT) & National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT)
The PSAT/NMSQT is administered only in October. All juniors considering college are encouraged to take this test as a practice for the SAT I. Students attempting to qualify for National Merit status MUST take this test the year before they graduate. For most students this is their junior year. Sophomores considering special programs such as PA Governor's School need to take this test. Students register by signing up in the counseling center.
American College Testing Assessment
The American College Test is accepted by most colleges and universities for admission. The ACT measures your achievement in English, Mathematics, Science Reasoning, and Reading.

AP Exams
Advanced Placement Testing (AP)
Advanced Placement exams are subject-specific tests given each May at the end of college-level courses taught in high school. A student who does well on the tests may receive college credit or advanced placement in college.
