Director of Curriculum 7-12

Dr. Brian Swartzlander is a lifetime Cavalier, graduating from Kiski Area High School in 1999. He returned to Kiski Area in September 2003 as a building substitute and eventually full-time as a Social Studies teacher in June 2004, teaching World Cultures, United States History, and Economics.
 
From 2012 to 2015, he served as the district's Supervisor of Technology Integration and Support, working with teachers across the district to integrate new educational technologies and adapt to 21st-century teaching and learning.
 
From 2016 to 2018, he served as the Assistant Principal at Kiski Area Intermediate School before becoming the Head Principal at Kiski Area Upper Elementary School in 2019.
 
Dr. Swartzlander recently transitioned to his current role as Director of Curriculum 7-12 in July 2024.
 
He completed his Doctorate in Educational Leadership at Penn West University (2024), K-12 Principal's Certification at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (2012), Master of Education in Curriculum Design and Instruction at Gannon University (2008) and Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration at Washington & Jefferson College (2003).
 
Dr. Swartzlander and his wife Amy have two children, Katie and Neil.
